Magic

This afternoon, at approximately 2 PM, both of my children napped for 2 hours and neither napped on top of me. TALK ABOUT MAGICAL. I worked in silence. And basically this came about as I was about to blow my brains out trying to read emails with both kids in my lap. Dallin won't stop touching everything within site and Lexi is singing in a toddler tone words that don't even make sense. One of those "Everyone stop or mama is going to explode". I dropped Dallin into the crib crying, told Lexi to get in my bed and we smiled as I shut the door (like who knows what she'll try to do but I'm shutting the door any way), went back to feed & rock Dallin and lay him back down in slumber and BAM both children actually stayed put and cooperated. Every mother's dream. Successes of the day: 1) Made it on time to library preschool with only a few minor threats when it took 5 years for her to get her socks on and when she asked for a fruit pouch walking into the l...

Pumpkins

I never thought I'd get this distracted from my blog, but it's getting harder and harder to stay motivated. But I must. Or all of these days will be left behind and I just can't have that. Today we went to the pumpkin patch! The weather has been nicer this week so I'm glad we got the chance to go with cousins no less. Dallin slept on me the majority of the time and Lexi & Maren played & played. I think the slide was this year's favorite, but everything is an adventure for a 3 year old. All three of us came down with colds the last week or so, which means we've been hiding out more than normal. It was nice to feel fall for a bit. Dallin has showed some promise of sleeping better and I think would be doing so in his own room where Lexi's cough didn't wake him or if he we cleared of sickness himself. He has put himself to sleep well the last few nights. Naps are still torture. I also see imprints of 4 top teeth as well. So we shall see. I still...

T H R E E . F I V E

She adds an s at the end of a lot of her words like "potties"  She still likes to tell us when she goes potties and also " I went poo, come wipe my bum!" She likes to remember random things about her friends or her time with them Same thing with who got her something "Grandma got me this. That's so nice of her." She started saying things like "we saw them on Saturday" when it was months ago. She started asking "what time it is" throughout the day and just going "oh. okay" She will stop a tantrum for a treat. Like complete 180. She can be demanding. She'll tell me she doesn't want to be patient. She always uses "he" when it should be "him" referring to Dallin All her Ls sounds like Ys because she doesn't stick her tongue out past her teeth when talking She opens the front door herself and invites anyone including our 60 year old male landlord to play wi...

S E V E N | M O N T H S

If I could take pictures all day I would because there are so many cute moments to capture or sometimes the captured is cuter than reality but that's all the better FALSE REALITY haha. JK. We do like to keep it real in here, but I'm all about capturing beauty too and sometimes that's when we look back and realize just how perfect it was. I'm too exhausted and delirious to appreciate everything today, but I'll try and trust it was all some sort of beautiful. Because really, this world is pretty darn amazing if you just rid everything Satan touched .  Whatever. back to my adorable 7 month old...who wouldn't smile this morning for just me, so there goes another reason to keep taking photos all day... at some point my brain just needs to capture it and seal it. But I'm glad you get a TASTE of my world: Let's calm him my squishy. Go ahead...look at the pictures and come back to read. So just a few new random things... He STILL doesn't have so...

Soccer Mom

I was nominated for that superlative in high school, but lost it to an actual soccer player. Okay, I HAVE to write about perhaps the biggest thing that happened to us all year, besides Dallin being born of course. WE OWN A MINIVAN. I'm a little past the part of it being a minivan and even a new car really (new to us - has still been around since I graduated high school). I'm just grateful we're over the hurdle of commitment. We've needed more space.  Eric's car was having some problems we didn't want to deal with, still had a trade value $2k+ greater than mine, 40k more miles, was manual which I refuse to drive, etc... so we found "a price" (<$13k) w/ mileage (<80k) we had been looking for, took it to the shop to get inspected and then Mr Smith bought it. Since I couldn't be there to negotiate, I was a little stressed and anxious especially because everything else was going wrong and I couldn't even focus on it. Mr Smith doesn...
