Mixing Life and Music

So on my FL road trip, I ran into a few mix CDs. And shamefully, but really there is no shame, I rekindled a little bit of my youthfulness. You see, dancing and daydreams were two favorite things of mine. Not coordinated dancing, just dance parties, roommate dance offs and awesome road trip performances. And my mix CDs tell a story. Mostly embarrassing stories full of regrets, but at the same time, it's a past I cherish. Either way, I ended up here and I can't complain about that. However, a lot of the dance songs are censored and not added here, but many others still tell a tale of well, drama. And now I'm old and the drama consists of forgotten clothes in the washing machine. But let's go back a little. It starts with a little bit of this: Hansen "MMMbop" that happened Chris Brown "Say Goodbye" A few years of loving and being loved but never at the same time Justin Bieber "Baby" and just enjoying the d...

Another Day Dream

Mr Smith says I shouldn't get my expectations up about living anywhere permanently and owning my dream home tomorrow. But it's definitely a dream to grow old in a mountain town with trails & fields. But just close enough to family, church, Target, Cafe Rio & Aldi. That's all that matters right? Today, Alexis, you woke up at 3AM and 6:15AM and it went downhill from there. Get better soon.

Saying Hello & Goodbye

Well, I guess I can take advantage of a long morning/afternoon nap. I just spent the last hour going through albums sorting pictures to share with the family. I let my external hard drives get so messy. That was one project I can write down just to cross off though. For the most part, it's organized. I just now have a lot of video to download and that's definitely for another day.  I guess right now is still a nostalgic time. You wish you took better (not more) pictures. More video. You wish you asked more questions. Hugged longer. Laughed harder. Any way, we still have a ton of good memories. You always just want one more. But to this end... here are some pictures from our November trip to South Carolina. This time well aware that Nana wasn't going to greet us on the back porch. I'm okay with it. I know this is how time works. I know she is growing & understanding a part of life we are veiled from. She is no longer in pain and is now under the tender embra...

Remembering Nana

her first time holding you love her. the last picture I took with her I remember you happy. hopeful. and full of love. Dearest Lexi,  I want you to remember how wonderful your great grandmother - Tina Revis Looper (Nana) - was.   And what her sweet spirit still is. I don't want you to forget how much she loved you & how she just wanted to hold you. She loved to see you smile & laugh. Even though you are small now, please grow to know she adored you & wants to see you succeed in this life.  I know that's what she wanted for me & everyone else around her. You were wonderful in her eyes. Nana was proud of her family.  And we loved Nana. The hardest part about having her gone, is having to admit we have to live without her. She is now with Papa, a man I would give anything for you to meet one day. Those two, reunited once more, will light the heavens on fire. I'm so ex...

Southern Living

a trip to the... Farmers Market! one of my first Winston-Salem friends, Addi. The other Smiths are canning green beans! One day we'll be that cool... cucumbers, zucchini, squash... I love it all My absolute favorite! I actually didn't purchase anything and went along for a look-see. At least they had free samples! I also fell in love with roasted red pepper goat cheese on crackers. Mr Smith doesn't seem to be onboard with my desire to eventually own a goat, but we'll give him some time to think about it. The goat cheese is too expensive not to have a goat... He made sure to clarify that when he says he loves cheese, he loves medium or sharp cheddar. They say you can't change your spouses. I married him! Temple Trip! Mr Smith went to help the youth with baptisms, so I went along to see if I could assist or do temple work for others. Turns out it's not like DC and timing is important at this temple, but nonetheless, I enjoyed being...

Backroad

This came on the radio this morning and is exactly how I felt bumper to bumper 5 miles out from my work

What reminds me

What reminds me that we live in an apartment and not a house?  1. The steps on our "roof." 2. The baby cries that remind me I don't have a baby. 3. A key to our mailbox 4. The money we throw away once a month 5. The hammering on our walls, at bedtime 6. A water efficient shower head 7. Pink tile 8. Storage that takes an appointment to access 9. Smokers on my front porch Any way, Thanksgiving is a time for appreciating what we have and realizing how lucky we are. And although that doesn't sound very appreciative, we are. We can't wait to move and save money, but right now, this is where we should be. We were able to go to Looper Rd for Thanksgiving. Of course I forgot to take all the pictures I wanted to, but we'll be back (whether Eric realizes that or not). I love good country cooking and the relaxing feeling that being there has on my soul. I am grateful 1. to be married to my best friend 2. for pizza 3. my legs 4. my eyes and camera 5. t...
