I've been writing directly into the bookmaking app instead of blogging (if there are any lingering followers - the best thing to do is just follow us on Instagram!) But I don't feel like opening the app up at the moment. Time is flying with a newborn & there are so many precious things to be captured.
Lexi: learning how to ride a bike without training wheels. The other day we talked about it because she just wanted to walk to the park. "I'm scared, that's the problem" and I just crack up at her phrases. Dad promised her money for the $1 store. I also started a star chart with her. She gets a star for being kind (selfless, grateful...) and she has stayed interested in it for once. Once she reaches 10 starts, she gets to choose something off the reward page. She has mostly chosen to pick a movie or show & eat ice-cream. I've wanted to start a snack reward system for summer reading, but haven't rolled that one out yet. She is obsessed with reading Pinkalicious and the Perfect Playdate. I think she can read most of it now. Amelia Bedilia Sleepover is also another fav and she has started reading the Book of Mormon with me. She reads the sight words & gets excited to read "God". I thought she would get bored and find it too hard, but she loves reading what she can & repeating after me. Otherwise, she spends her time whining for TV, playing with dolls, writing notes (we go through SO much paper), creating parties (aka disorganizes everything in the playroom) or building with the newest activity, kinetic sand. She likes to go outside and play in the water or climb trees. She stopped her online pre-k program which I'm bummed about. She was really good at doing it on her own for months. The repetition got too much for her. She still likes to be defiant at times, but she is still my sweetheart that wants to be helpful and do anything for a reward.
Dallin: My sweet boy with an attitude. He loves to follow Lexi & we finally got him staying in his room when he can sleep with her. A lot of times they end up sleeping on the floor. I'm not sure why we spent money on beds. He has also gotten much better at peeing in the potty on his own and with less encouragement from me, but I'm still trying to remind him. We still maybe have one small pee accident a day where he just holds it too long. But nothing like it was, so I'm grateful he has started to pay more attention. Still no issues at night or going poop. He loves baby Rebecca & surprises me when he runs to her when she is crying & doesn't freak out when she is freaking out in the car. More than anything I'm having to tell him to stop kissing her or touching her. Every now and then he pokes too hard. He started hiding when he does something bad and gets caught. He will close his eyes if he can't get behind something. He doesn't clean up much, but he will go fetch me a diaper or my phone. He likes to grab his potty stool & steal crackers out of the pantry like his sister and throw a fit over the TV too. He is obsessed with Super Wings, Paw Patrol or PJ Masks, some recent favorites. I'm at least insisting they sit at the table for meal times though. I love his recent phrases as he puts "oh" in front of things or says "sorry bout that" in his cute chubby way. He loves calling that balance bike his but is oh so slow at it. He also loves to push his dump truck around the house & play with any vehicle. He recently started calling construction machines "dino-trucks" from the show & gets really excited.
Rebecca: Is growing before my eyes although doesn't have the complete chub of her siblings. She is moving into 3 month sizes and size 2 diapers (but we still have size 1 so she can stay put for another month). She has always given us longer stretches earlier than her siblings, but we are still exhausted. She is great with diaper changes, but hates outfit changes. She likes being swaddled & held. She is fairly easy going except when it comes to car rides. Unfortunately, her naps are usually cut short due to siblings & I'm working on getting her to sleep longer stretches outside my arms. Sleep-eat-play transition. I've also decided to cut out nightly diaper changes because she makes it so much harder to go back to sleep. But she figured out her nights/days pretty quick. Everyone also comments on how alert she will be, usually pretty serious, but she smiles a bunch with me. She has starting cooing more & more. Her eyes are still that dark blue & her skin tone is definitely her own white/pink self. She loves her weekly bath because that's about all I can handle. She started nursing better around the 1 month mark & we haven't had issues since I used that triple nipple cream. She doesn't even favor a side. I think she has a little bit of the silent reflux like Dallin, but nothing like his choking sessions. Her actual spitting up is to a minimum though when I burp her. I can just hear her swallowing it back & she still gets the hiccups quit a bit. Her 2 month apt is next week!
Maybe that sums up my children this last month?
