Dental Visit #2

We went a year ago around this time, and decided to head back for round 2. I thought I could handle it alone, but I am pregnant and they get X-rays again apparently. So since I couldn't stay in the room, that was dramatic. I was on the phone with Mr Smith because we had new insurance, yet I didn't have any info and needed his social. So Lexi crying and Mr Smith telling me he thought it was a waste of time any way REALLY helped this stressed out mama. Lexi got up and walked out. We went back in and a lovely technician came in and started talking 2-year old language. They distracted her and got her back in the chair. All is well that ended well. Until the dentist comes by to say she has signs of decay in her front teeth (which can go away on it's own with care) as well as missing permanent teeth (if adolescence wasn't difficult enough). She left with a fancy toothbrush & a balloon flower. It's done. Mr Smith will still probably feed her juice & candy and we...

Exploration

Remember how I came up with the great idea of snow boots, snow gloves & a sled AFTER Christmas? Well, this is what we have to fill in when where I slack… but trust me, she was warmer than anyone else. Yet when I backed up with my camera (I was taking cousin Jenny's engagement photos), I bumped into her and made her face plant. So she basically wanted to be carried after that. It was DEEP DEEP snow. Not exactly as we had hoped, but we made it out with some pretty winter wonderland photos. I'm so excited for Jenny. March is a good month for us both. Go figure.  It has snowed so much more this year. Which has given Mr Smith the chance to get outdoors as well. Before the snow hit he bought a used but nicest bike he has ever owned and went up a few times with his friends who take pictures. After the snow fell he switched to back country skies/snow boots. I just get to sit back and wait to hear if he made it back alive. You really never know. I married that kind of husba...

On Basketballs & Sharing

32 & 33 weeks, a complete basketball I gained 1 lb from 31-33 weeks. 30 lbs in all still.  Symptoms: mid-back, right rib under boob & vagina pain. Slight loss of appetite. The natural muscle relaxant also causes it's fair share of problems. But this is how we really feel . . . week 33 began with a second round of congestion & coughs Mr Smith took this on his way out last week and it cracked me up. She comes to our bed the last hour of the morning about half the time, but only to daddy's side, you see. Because THAT is how she ends up sleeping and that is why mom says no. I finished two, half yard baby blankets. Ended up gifting one to Rand & Sav although it isn't the best gift. My sewing skills have a long way to go and this is the easiest type of blanket to sew! The issue was getting the two pieces to match up. 1. Stretchy fabric 2. Big belly on the floor trying to cut & pin straight. But that's one thing off the list! ...

Here Come the Smith Family Photos of 2015

Technically it was already 2016, but let's roll with it. Everyone was in town and it's basically the only thing Grandma Smith asks for; however, contention always rests somewhere with family photos. Mr Smith acted like he was on his death bed, but when it comes to photos he'll place himself there any way. He ended up refusing to come this year due to illness and his passion for hating himself in photos so I was left to photoshop him in. I married that brother. At least Lexi humors me, my brunette beauty. Sharon 16 weeks, Laura 27 weeks, Me 31 weeks I was standing up straight (which I never do) so my stomach actually seems smaller…weird. {31 weeks}

Activity Days

So far, 2016 has just been uncomfortable. My back is KILLING me (I'm constantly asking Mr Smith to pop or massage it out) and so are the vagina pains that hopefully are just this low low child knocking on my nerves and not signs of early labor. HOWEVER it is one of those pregnancies where I swear I'm already dilated to a 3. But I still have 7 weeks left before we get antsy.  Meanwhile, we tried to get in as much cousin time as possible while the TX girls were visiting. Lexi loves her cousins and can finally understand what that means, maybe. Either way, they had fun at the family friendly Bean Museum. Her and Halle are such cute huggers and always ran up to each other with arms wide open. Lexi loves to embrace those who speak to her affectionate side. I love that cute booty. BTW - that's the tunnel I was talking about in a previous post. Of course I had to convince everyone a treat was in order and grandma smith ended up treating us all to ice-cream and...

9 weeks sounds better than 63 days, but it's still forever

With 9 weeks to go, I gained 30 lbs. Eat that.  All my muscles have long ago loosened and it has made rolling over in bed a task indeed along with all the other lovely symptoms. The top of my stomach is definitely more crowded and it hurts to sit forward or be restricted at all. My body is ready to be done. My mind and body are on the same page. On a good note, my thyroid is still normal on my current dose. And they have me marked down for an epideral even though my husband and doctor have to give me nightmares about having a quick second delivery. I don't want a back up plan! I want to walk into the hospital calmly and receive my epideral people. Let's make it happen. I just know that Lexi came SUPER fast after they broke my water, so if my contractions start and break my water this time, I might be screwed. JK - it's pregnancy & delivery - all will go according to plan. Things I'd LIKE to accomplish before I enter the dark hole of the first month post b...

Ready for 2016

Happy 2016! With our first family photo of the year,  even with as pixely as it is, I appreciate my happy family. We don't really make resolutions at the new year. That would be a little too close to the traditions of the world for Mr Smith to participate in … I wanted Lexi to at least know what the hype was all about so we "clanked" our glasses to sparkling cider and although she isn't a carbonation fan, she loved clinging the glasses. We heard some fireworks and made an attempt to find some online, but ya know, the actual ringing in of the new year was pretty simple and involved the latest Netflix binge of Numbers. That day we finally got the chance to see Star Wars thanks to Uncle Troy for babysitting and Grandma Smith made a yummy New Years dinner. We have a lot of excitement coming into 2016:  1 brother. 4 cousins. 1 wedding. and I'm sure more will happen along the way. Bring it on!

"Surprise"

It's one of those stories that doesn't have to be drawn out, but I did it any way. Besides Mr Smith buying up his emergency prep wish list end of year, we, and I mean I, decided we should do $20 "surprise" Christmas gifts for each other. $20 spent how we want since we normally might question the dollar spent, this would be just a "fun" way to think about each other. I suggested another measuring cup and then the shelves came up again and when a friend told me you could get some affordable IKEA ones, I jumped with excitement (2, 45in ones for $20 exact!). I told him his Christmas present would be just getting and installing them - instead of having to build them too. He said he had thought about that (obviously building them since IKEA isn't his go-to); I thought it was a win. You like that "surprise" suggestion? That's basically how it goes since Mr Smith doesn't appreciate the responsibility of finding a gift for someone. I get i...
