Rand will be sad/mad if I don't acknowledge that he helped us unload all our stuff. He drove 1.5 hours from Charlotte just to help us do so and we appreciate him & his friend. Again, I got out of the heavy lifting (the big things ya know; I'm not completely useless). I love family. I hope I can give back to them what they give to me one day. We live on the third floor. Yeah, we now have sexy legs (not that this was never the case). Who said cellulite wasn't hot?!? Good thing I only wear my long shorts these days. Except for when I exercise. Right.
I'm sure I'll make time for that soon. It's right next to waller on the couch and eat popcorn so it's hard.
So vacation.
It went a little like:
What the freak was I thinking making us drive another 4 hours 2 days later. I'm retarded. Babe, you want to drive, right? Mr Smith: Yes dear, it will be fine.
The resort we stayed at in Williamsburg was nice... Free game of +3 mini-golf ; I suck under pressure. A little sun by the pool. A little arcade competition with a hunting game; I won 2 rounds out of 100. Then a movie. The 4th Narnia was it? I don't know I fell asleep. Just kidding, Mr Smith was thrilled to see me laughing a few times. We took a day trip to Jamestown and then Yorktown and even down Market Square in Williamsburg near the college of William & Mary. All beautiful and historically rich.
Kayla: Are we ever going to leave the TV and go out?
Mr Smith: Haha
Kayla: We never should have come on vacation. We didn't need to spend the money. Who cares about history. I just wanted some sun by the pool, but it's cloudy. I want to go the pool. I'm going to the pool. We can do more than 12 "free" loads of laundry and watch TV. (I'm pretty sure we're the only people who packed a suitcase full of dirty laundry and to Eric's credit we hadn't watched real-time TV in 6 months.)
*Harry Potter comes on the television*
2 hours later...
Mr Smith: Okay, let's go. It will be great.
And it was, but of course my un-fun self wanted every day planned (if not the hour), but apparently Mr Smith vacations by not making any plans. And I would go on an emotional snowball thinking what-if we had done this instead and blah blah blah. Mr Smith is always good at comforting Mrs Smith. Actually, always is a stretch. Because I'm pretty sure I stress out because of him.
So any way, my biggest excitement was going to be my trip to Busch Gardens, of course it doesn't open up on Mon-Thurs till the following week and I found out I got the in-person interview for noon that Friday. I wish they knew what I gave up for that interview. Busch Gardens. It was emotional. So we decided to do a couple's massage instead and Eric took me to Outback. A few firsts for us both and we really just enjoy being with each other where ever we can go. This may not last forever so we're enjoying this time. Here are some pictures of our stay. Of course not a single picture of us both. Too much to ask. Hardly any pictures of us at all actually...
The oldest part of Jamestown, potentially the only part that remained from the original. I can't remember the year, but it was before 1607 I think because that was when the rest of the church behind it was rebuilt.
These were some recently marked graves. They just discovered the Jamestown fort within the last 19 years and archeologists were currently working on digging holes, as I call it. They have found over a million artifacts in the wells/sewers that they have just discovered, potentially discovering new aspects of history all together. I thought it was cool to see something being discovered so recently.
Yorktown Battlefield was just gorgeous I thought. Before the Great Depression it was actually a golf course! But luckily it wasn't something else because all the earthworks (the bunker mounds) are still preserved and are interesting to see today.
And we ended the day (before driving back home) with Vanilla Custard cones in Williamsburg
But don't forget that one time, sweety, when I told you to ignore the GPS and just use the signs to find the best exit for getting gas. Also, I said we'd be fine to go a little further before we had gone 15 miles out of the way to get to the gas station. Apparently, we typed in a gas station 6 times into our GPS, 3 of those being when we changed our mind and 3 of those being gas stations that didn't exist. Thank you out-dated GPS! Only 3 miles off the exit for them not to exist. Did I mention we somehow ended up in hurricane rain? Oh geez. FYI - Southern VA has some great farming land.
The honeymoon never stops. Therefore, the vacation never stops. I mean, you can stop it, but you shouldn't. A lifetime of pure irritable bliss *insert smiley face here*
The End!
(of my memory)
