We finally watched it!

Sooo that's cool that there was so much hype over the Hunger Games. I guess I didn't go in thinking the best (because I read the book) but I mean, I did go in thinking there was so much potential. Did anyone else get a headache during the first 10 minutes of the film off tripod? I think my eyes don't appreciate the creative style. Any way, I still love the books but if we can help it, we probably shouldn't pay so much to see a movie in theaters unless it's a movie not based on a book and has serious action best handled on the size of a football field screen. I still appreciated our little date night and actually felt like we could get some popcorn courtesy of the Westers who provided the much appreciated gift card. Perhaps it was all because I wasn't attached to the main lead, but maybe that's kinda how her character is. I don't know. Eric was surprised by how much they showed in the death of the teens. I guess I am desensitized to the horror ...

Are we playing a game of winners and losers?

Oh we definitely are. And I hardly win, but like this one time where I said no, we need to get Extra Virgin Olive Oil and you thought Pure was better? I'm going to start writing these moments down, because remember how you'll always be like "give me an example" and of course I never can remember . The curse of a bad memory; I cannot recall those few times where I was right against his adamantly stubborn self. Mr Smith does have to meet defeat every once in awhile. But some fights I will never win. Like the dentist one: when I get upset that he put the skittle bag next to his bed and is popping in a handful right before shut eye. Seriously , this happened last night: Kayla: "Whaaaaaaaaat was that noise!?!?!?" Mr Smith: haha *shuffle sounds from the bag being placed out of sight* Kayla: "Eric! You are going to bed! Your teeth are going to rot. ...I will never win this argument will I? Mr Smith:  "Nope" Kayla: "Ugh. this is ...

We got a vacation!!

Mr Smith laughed at me when I said I wanted to get out of the city because we just go into an even bigger one. But what I meant was I wanted to get out of our city. I needed a change of scenery gosh darn it, even though at times I may have gotten more than I bargained for. But I love traveling with Mr Smith! & we got to see the Sittons! You just got to make good of what you got. The traveling part is ironic because I swear 95% of frustrations begin in the car. It's so stressful. Outside of the middle-aged couple making out in front of us on the train or the creeper bum dropping his pants, the trip was without too much liberal free love. We are so lucky to be able to travel to such places on a given weekend. We owe so much to the Sittons for more than just housing us; we love that family!! The first day we went Uptown and meandered our way to Time Square, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Plaza, Lincoln Center, Central Park, & Levains Bakery.   The second...

Notepad - Photo Gear

Okay, since I can't allow myself to throw money at the wall yet, I'm thinking smaller scale practice and lighting. I found an article that recommended these two things (I have the other two things) that make up the bare bones to a basic lighting kit. I'm making this a post so I remember: Umbrella = $31.19+tax+shipping Trigger = $22.45+tax+shipping Perhaps I would be eligible for free shipping? Any way, one day when I have room to even begin experimenting with a studio . . . It could be worse. I could be coveting a 5d Mark II or wide angle lens weird. cause I'm totally not. *drool slop-ige* Other DIY lighting options for that rainy day

Run Forest Run

Like I promised, pictures from the marathon! It was a wonderful Saturday morning that began at 5 AM and lasted until oh I don't know . . . noon30. I drove with the victims to the RFK Stadium, housing the other 30,000 victims, and the games began exactly at 8 AM. After the porta potty stop (definitely not for me, I held it all 5 hours), the men stepped into their corral; our boys of course near the front. It was a beautiful day. The fog that morning helped get everyone eager to run. It was a little nippy, but then the sun came out and was perfect for me, probably not the ones on the asphalt who had been running for the last 4 hours, but yeah, could have definitely been worse, right ? By some miracle I was able to find them each on the take off. One corral at a time, they scampered out. I actually felt the spirit and really wanted to put on my running shoes. I think it's contagious. But I definitely  only brought my flip flops. I'll plan on a half soon, when t...
