The Loopers Arrived!

For better or worse, these were all the "nice" photos we took during their week stay. Good thing I wrote down ideas for each day so that I don't have to recollect what actually happened...

Friday - Arrival. Gammi takes us grocery shopping and we get some pizza for dinner

Saturday - Gammi made a Thanksgiving craft with Lexi then goes to the movies with Troy while PopPop comes to play. Gammi took Lexi to the toy store too and came back with something mom wouldn't approve of all because "Lexi wouldn't leave without it." It was returned. Lexi played at their hotel riding her bike up & down the halls. We had french toast & bacon for dinner.

Sunday - Church *extra hands* and the family came over for chicken tortilla soup & FHE

Monday - We tried out the new Orem mall play area while I went to run a couple errands. I was way disappointed at the indoor area! Totally not kid proof! Although the bathrooms were appreciated. Unfortunately, I also had to spend $100 to fix our Dyson. We had lasagna with the Smiths and then Lexi slept over at the hotel.

Tuesday - Lexi went to breakfast with Gammi for her birthday while mom had her doc apt. We then took a trip up to the puppy barn. Rand arrives that afternoon and I brought some pork & veggies to their hotel that night while Lexi got to meet the twins for the first time! (and me of course). The cupcakes from Cravings cupcakes were a great treat!

Wednesday - We had lunch with Cassidy at Zupas. BOY was that dramatic with Dallin spilling Gamma's soup and Lexi throwing a fit. Gammi took Troy shopping while we napped and we met up for dinner at Station 22 where Mr Smith finally got to meet the twins.

Thursday - Family photos. The cold had to hit the night before so we tried to make things quick but my family certainly put the torture in family photos. Mr Smith even made me cry. I don't want to talk about it. Lexi just decided to be emotional and Dallin was just hungry & tired by the time we finally made it to the spot. I wish we could have had more time up there, but whatever, it was freezing any way. Thanksgiving dinner happened to be AMAZING. Mom & Troy made some great side dishes and the turkey came out SO juicy.

Friday - We take Dallin to the ER for Croup at 1AM. I send texts out to Rand that I'm sure just made them panic and in the end, they decided to take off early in hopes that they could get back in time before their girls developed any issues. We WERE going to take more photos of the kids, put up the Christmas tree together, watch Gilmore Girls while sipping hot chocolate...but all good things come to an end I suppose. I hated that it was a sucky ending. The girls never got Croup, but they still came down with troublesome colds. No SLC lights this year. And we forgot to take Dad to Sodalicious.

And so it begins, again

At what point do you ... 1. Keep holding on waiting for inspiration to come 2. Try something different 3. Let go & walk away I'd say most of us are usually somewhere in between #1 & #2, but there are occasional moments where I find myself locked into another Jane Austin film with some oreos & milk ignoring reality all together.  Today, I'm trying to rise above some level of complacency & clear my mind at your expense. Mr Smith & I had a good run of it, but since blogs became obsolete in 2017 while Instragram chained us all to algorithms, I had no audience nor desire to write in this world. But times change, after it murders our souls, and alas we are famished for an authentic keyboard with less distractions again. So, let's catch up. They say it comes in threes... Since our job change in 2017, we experienced three more moves, three additional job changes (that don't necessarily align with the moves), and three additional children.  2018-2022 were ver...

We're patiently waiting

Picture Mr Smith putting together the pack-n-play. He was so cute. Mostly when he had to read the directions. Do we have a child? Don't ask such silly questions. Hopefully it won't collect too much dust in 5.5 months. We're ready now . . . (but not really) It has a changing thing and a removable bassinet that vibrates.  I'm okay with not needing a changing table.  It will probably mean we won't get a crib for awhile too.  Next we need to hear from our baby/exercise friends a good car seat & jogging stroller (maybe ones that work together)... Any favorites? Then a blanket . . . Then a breast pump . . . Then a diaper bag. . .  Then lots of diapers, toys & cute clothes.  And even a mobile.  Then they get older and there's even more things. Mr Smith is just so thrilled. I'd love to hear about any products that you recommend/absolutely love having. Here is one thing you can do to annoy Mr Smith: go ...

To Live is to Change

I love change. I love variety. I love mixing things up just because I can. It's helpful, but it's kind of a double edged sword.  I'm terrible at consistency, even though Clifton Strengthfinder told me that was my #5 strength (I think they meant something closer to wanting things fair & equitable which isn't wrong). I not only move furniture in & out of my life, or make sure we don't eat the same thing too often... but I love that I can give my kids a flexible education. God knew this is something I would love & has allowed for it even when it comes with significant sacrifices (as many good things do). This has been a beautiful way to grow me over the last 4 years, and I definitely missed it, but I also started to doubt ever doing it again, which felt odd. I found myself questioning why I wanted to take the harder course. I had a little break with just E & M at home, but now B is back too, so I'm giving up some me time (I was never good at it any ...
