Weak Flesh

Everyone is in bed before 8 PM. Including Dad. Apparently my potatoes and chicken dinner had mystic powers. Lexi fell asleep on dad soon after. Dallin worked on his exploration skills while I picked up their room and then after his final drink, he was pooped. It's always rewarding to lay your children down peacefully. I had a touch & go nap earlier, but it was good enough. For some reason my leg muscles were a little achey last night and this morning the tops of my legs are really tender. Trust me, I didn't do anything out of the ordinary yesterday, but I became exhausted today too and just couldn't handle a toddler not napping and a bipolar baby sleeper. Mr Smith was at church later so I think I just got upset with Lexi and she ended up playing alone and handling it. I had to ask for forgiveness once I woke. I'm just not sure what's taking over my body yet. Man the flesh is weak. My nose is on the mend. I had my follow-up and as I was slightly worried sinc...

E I G H T M O N T H S

This CHARMER of a guy started crawling mid-way through the month, but still hasn't really embraced the freedom. It's still a belly crawl, but when he wants something he seems to pull the speed out of no where (food, phone, plugged chords...). He is still working on the transition from sitting to crawling. Those thighs are a big hurtle...  HE IS SLEEPING BETTER. Even though he still has a hacking cough that wakes him at times, the last few nights he has done pretty well. Even if he cries, he goes back to sleep quick enough. If it's at least 6 and Mr Smith is getting up, then he will bring him to me and I will feed him and he goes back to sleep until around 8. We JUST got a full night sleep, 8-8 and that's all due to the time change. Naps can still be challenging; he is usually best with his first nap of the day 2-3 hours after waking. But then sometimes both kids sleep good at 2 PM but it's usually one or the other. Lover of all table food. Just recently due...

3 Days: Surgery // Voting // 5 Year Anniversary

My first surgery might me monumental. As far as surgeries go, this one is pretty low key, but I was still under general anesthesia for an hour. And now I know what that means. It's CRAZY waking up without enough energy to move an eyelid, unable to remember going in for the surgery. One quick snapshot came back to me of actually being moved from my room, but if I moved myself from the bed to the operating table, I don't remember it. Luckily, everything went well and seems to be fairly normal. I hate explaining what it was because it sounds like a nose job. No rhinoplasty for me. But I also struggle with how to say what it was: septoplasty with turbinate reduction. I think. There were some before and after photos, but I'm still having to trust that in a few weeks, I will be able to breathe in such a way like glasses bring detail to the world. But right now, it's a pretty sucky sinus infection you can't flush out. Day 1 went by quick and the root beer slushy sti...

Halloween 2016

Every year it gets a little more and more exciting...for her...and more tiresome for us, ha! But we do what we can and Gammi makes it easier with her fabulous home-sewn costumes. I love that Dallin got to re-wear R2D2. Lexi likes Star Wars due to brainwashing? and although mermaid got into her head, she thought Princess Leia was pretty cool. She even let me do sock buns without complaint. No hairspray on hand so I was surprised they lasted as long as they did.  Her favorite part of Halloween? Candy. She thought she got a ton. Dad came home just in time to go to the ward's trunk or treat for 30 min and she got a few handfuls. Then we went to visit Grandma & Grandpa Smith, Lance & then Grandma Jane. I was wiped. But apparently not as much as Dallin who slept 15 min after leaving the house, right in dads arms as we passed out candy. Lexi only visited a couple of actual doors and was ready to take it all so maybe next year we'll learn how to be more polite... I've...
