Well, THAT Was Fast

I didn't even blog the whole month of June! Let me tell you, it literally has become the last thing I have time for. And even now, I'm tired and the kids are asleep SO I NEED TO BE. It's so hard being sleep deprived. My brain has gone to the pits. I have the worst memory and ability to recall anything. I feel privileged to function at all. I know I've been given some added strength to accomplish anything. Playdates, Library time, Cleaning, Cooking, Shopping, Working in/out of office, Photos, Projects, Preparing RS lessons or preschool lessons... honey, I know you work hard every day and have to push through little sleep as well BUT my day is plenty hard too. Because have mercy that whiney voice kicks in after dinner time and I'm just like "stop being annoying". Honestly though, she heard me say "just shut your mouth" the other day. I was just done. It's still a really cute mouth. I hate when I cause her anxiety from my own, but after a certa...

A Week of Play

We celebrated Memorial Day with a hike to the Y. This was not my idea. I wanted to hike, yes, but a nice, calm hike to the waterfalls. NOT a mile STRAIGHT up the friggin mountain with a toddler and 2 month old. But I wanted to get out in the pretty weather so bad, I agreed and said a hike is a hike. WRONG. About half way up, I told Mr Smith I couldn't do it. I didn't care what he thought of me, this was NOT my idea of fun in nature. Especially when right around that time Dallin started crying and squirming. I would have been done touching my hot body too. So Eric basically takes Dallin the rest of the way up in the front with Lexi on his back. She did a couple switchbacks, but Mr Smith held us all together. It was his idea any way. I definitely didn't trust my jello legs coming down, but hey, we're alive. First family hike was a ... success, sure. Never again with young tots, or ever again. The outdoors waterpark opened up too and since it was our las...

T H R E E M O N T H S

Well, this is the time where they just get bigger. And that's pretty much all that is happening. I'm in love with this boy in every one of these photos. We moved up to size 3 permanently right before 3 months. We had been doing size 3 pampers at night since I didn't like changing him and he seemed to be fine as long as I changed him first thing when we got up. Maybe that's why he doesn't sleep? Ha, doubt it. I think reflux and some congestion have made this week of sleep the pits. However, all it takes is a quick little grin from that face and I'm somehow able to suck up the deprivation and even make plans for the day.    We actually made it to the library TWICE with our new (used) double stroller for craft time (with Emily & Oliver) & story time. We did a playdate to the splash pad for the first time this summer (turns out Dallin is NOT a water baby, at least when it's cold water around nap time. He totally screamed when I put his f...

Temple Square on My Birthday

I'll admit, I didn't plan a wedding of service on my birthday, but it happened. Of course I dragged my family along for the adventure since it was my birthday, and don't worry, I got my free firehouse sub for the drive up. I wanted to check out the family history museum and walk Lexi around temple square, but hopefully they enjoyed it without me. I know Mr Smith did. I was whining about Mr Smith making us pay $10 parking to go underground. I just think it's crazy even if it keeps the car cool and avoids the search. We are both fairly frugal, but the difference is, Mr Smith doesn't let money stress him out. I basically die when we don't save money where we could have, even a buck. I mean I'm getting ulcers just thinking about it. Any way, I know God heard and prompted a guy to go out of his way to give us a free parking token. Thank you birthday blessing. Basically it just got me off my husband's back. He doesn't like to carry me. He also doesn't...

Chug Chug Chugging Along.

My hair might be oily. I might be in pjs all day. And my brain will always have this lingering pressure from lack of sleep. I know these months are just a few months, but I hate wishing time away when I know I want to cherish every phase at the same time. I just REALLY want to sleep again. Where are these 4 hour stretches Dallin?? I just hate neglecting Lexi because I'm so dang tired. Accomplishing ANYTHING becomes the accomplishment. Like today I made banana bread & made a craft project with Lexi. When I make it to the grocery store, clean the bathroom, or put away all the laundry, I mean it seems like substantial feats. I used to go stir crazy in the house. Now I'm just afraid I'll never make it out willfully again. I mean I do, sometimes. I set play dates and then I'm forced to do stuff.  Instead of messes, Lexi has turned up the sass. Everything "is a good idea" when she suggests it, but sometimes when it comes to cleaning her room or doing someth...

My Nieces

I've been wanting to blog about them for sometime now but there is so much to say! and wait for that I've just put it off. Their story is amazing, miraculous and faith building. I love my brother and his wife. We told them kids will change everything, but their story surely takes it up a notch or two. Because they couldn't just have one. They had to announce twins that came to them only a short time after "giving it to God" when they were told it might not be easy for them to get pregnant. My brother likes to prove everyone wrong. What a blessing. Twins are scary, sure. You automatically join this niche group of parents who need a support group because the first year of twins will feel like you're drowning they say. But it gets better they say. "I couldn't imagine" says everyone else. But soon after they found out they had twins, they were also told one will most likely die. I have a hard time even saying that out-loud, let alone soak i...

Tummy Time

Sorry not sorry for the Dallin overload. But I had pictures like these for Lexi and I guess I still feel obligated to keep up while I can. He still has a wobbly head, but he held it up for several minutes on his stomach. We're getting there. I'm ready for the bumpo. It seems Lexi was at 2.5 months. But let's just let the guilt sink in about how much I haven't given him enough tummy time. Lexi is doing so much better than when I last posted. She is a great helper and eventually goes along with our requests. Dad may or may not be threatening a cold shower on her emotional breakdowns for no good reason. Well, sure, she wanted a treat before dinner. It's a big deal to her. My biggest fear is being worried I won't hear her little girl voice for the rest of my life. I must get more video. But you also want to enjoy the moment and kids aren't as cute when the camera is out. I'm so lucky to have great kids and a great husband. I know this. And I...
