Can't Get Enough of NC

So I already commented on the flights and how well she did for her first airplane ride last month, but I wanted to make sure I posted pictures of said airplane ride. She loved being at Mrs Amy's house with her kids (who doesn't). She learned about Eggo waffles and princess dresses. In the picture above she had a headlamp on, I think Mr Smith would approve of that although Miss Independent doesn't need help putting it on. The only thing we left was that orange cup, which I knew I didn't have but couldn't find it for the life of me before we left. I think that is pretty good considering how much crap we brought on our trip. Always hard to know what to leave behind! I was pretty lucky to spend one night with my parents and drop Lexi off. We were nervous about how she would handle the transition and I think that helped, but she adjusts really well I have discovered. Marshall was a saint and drove me the 2 hours back since preggo lady was a ti...

March & April Photo Catchup

So I did an awful job at blogging the last couple of months and I never included photos from my phone, but some of these are too precious not to get in the blog books! (which I'm also terribly behind on and the software isn't making it any easier). These months were filled with more sunshine than snow. I rekindled friendships while Alexis made new ones. It was filled with mostly park days and shopping trips as we closed out Lexi's 2nd year of life! I have more to post from our trip to NC and most of May.

Storytime. Bedtime.

They grow so fast. This tutu dress has been in storage for 7 months and she missed being able to wear it for more than this hour of playtime. I love that she is back into books again - well I love/hate it. The past couple of weeks I can almost always count on her willing to read a book, bringing me several at a time and saying "read book mommy" and of course I have to. Even if it's the 5th time that day? I mean seriously she has an entire shelf-thing of books, why does she keep finding the same ones? She wants to memorize them one at a time? Because I'm bored. Children love repetition and it's perfect for them, hence the love/hate. I always thought I couldn't wait to have a child and I would never tire of reading books to them! Well, it comes sooner than we would like.  I love when she will read to herself. This is seriously the best of both worlds. Then come night time, I actually want to read a story. But here is her routine - we clean up her ...

First Haircut (Almost)

Technically Mr Smith trimmed my child's hair for the first time while I was away. There was a little bit of a fight about it. So I'm just going to pretend like it never happened and say this is her first official haircut, since mom was present and consented.  Here are the pictures of it going down. I last minute realized we hadn't taken a before shot (how???) so I frantically ran around trying to find a camera and this is basically all I was able to get while Mr Smith told me to hurry up he was running out of time. We had to distract her with the Kindle. I had avoided this for awhile. Mr Smith would bring it up like every other day and I would avoid making it a reality. Well, the biting on the hair habit pushed me to do it, but I also realized she could use a good trim although I never could have done it myself. Her hair still has waves and curls randomly like mine did so we weren't sure how well the bob would take, but I think she looks even cuter if it...

Waffles?

She has started requesting waffles ever since our trip to NC where she had Eggo waffles for the first time. Homemade waffles where I'm not actually mixing aren't quite as good as those artificial ones, but perhaps one day we will have a baker in the family. I caught myself several times wanting to be like "just let mommy do it" it is SO hard to give up control and let them be kids for a second. I'm not about to let her get waffle all over the kitchen, but I did want her to enjoy helping and creating, which she did. Apron credit to my amazing mother.

An Update on Lexi & the Payson Temple Open House

I apologize to my mother for being so MIA on the blog. If it isn't Lexi, work or moving related, I probably haven't done it. I just can't settle myself until the home is settled, which might take some time. And Lexi has definitely taken a back seat at times and I love her for not knowing that I've been a slacker mama. However, I think it is due time for an update on Ms Lexi. I didn't even give the stats of her 2nd year appointment! And hopefully I'll get around to an official "2 year old" photo soon. Same 70%ish percentile if that means anything to you, but WEIGHT 27.5 lbs HEIGHT 34.5 inches  SIZE 2-3T, 6-7 shoe Her newest (albeit bad) habit of biting her hair is driving me bananas. She sleeps in a toddler bed now, the crib with the one side removed, and she loves it. She has done great. Not at all like I expected. She stays there and calls my name when she wakes. We're all happy there.  Sometimes I think she can read my mind she i...
