Family Time + Presents

Christmas Day I blogged on Christmas & about Lexi at 8 months. This is the wrap up. After Christmas we went to visit Gammy & Pops in Pelzer, SC along with Uncle Keith & Aunt Andra, Justin & Marshall Alexis got some pjs, a rattle ball, wooden alphabet blocks, leg warmers, outfits, a book, & I'm sure I'm missing a few other things (from her grandmothers & Aunt A) Mr Smith got some candy, an unbreakable camping size hatchet & a book. His mother & grandmother showered him with some extra $$$ he liked his hatchet Me (unpictured of course) received so much before Christmas, which included a new bed, blog books & that set of dishes… but I was spoiled from my mother with a backdrop set up for studio portraits + a flash diffuser + a UV filter. Rand & Savannah even got me a surprise photo gift, a prop for getting the kids' attention. I also got a book from my MIL ( Heaven i...

8 Months

I like having an official post for the baby month updates. They change so quickly in the first year or so. I'm sure I'll be saying that forever but literally a week goes by and so much can change up in here. And comparison is always the name of the game - I want to remember how different each of my children are. So I'm trying to keep up with Alexis . . . (obviously if I can't keep up with one I shouldn't have anymore. ) She has perfected the army crawl. This child might just drag her stomach to the grave. She does this push off with one arm and pulls with the other arm in front of her sort of thing. Her toes may be involved as well. She has started to get up on her knees, but quickly decides that isn't for her. So she is crawling . . . kinda. Enough where I have to keep things picked up any way. We believe she is starting to cut her upper teeth now. Or at least we hope there is some evidence of the whiny evenings & nights. She still loves nursing. She ...

Merry Christmas

To quote a status from my brother Troy: " Remember no matter what is under the tree this morning, you already have the greatest gift one can receive; the birth and life of your Savior Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!" Due to budget cuts this year, only the grandmothers got "christmas card" photos. But luckily, we have the internet to share this bundle of cuteness. And here we go . . . We stayed home for Christmas day which fell on a Wednesday this year. I made sweet pork which was a delicious treat. We also got to Skype Elder Looper & show Ms Alexis off who has grown a little since he has seen her (the day she was born). I'm thinking now that it's nap time, I will attempt some apple butter snicker doodles. I have a lot of apple butter that I don't know how to use up. Any who, it's nice having Mr Smith home to play with Alexis & me. We opened a few presents & I will post all those pictures/videos after ...

Hello Santa

Here is my first Christmas & Lexi's first Christmas photos. I was only a month younger. Photography has changed a little from the Polaroid days, but you can tell we both loved Santa. Or were just too naive to notice he was a scary bearded man.  Mr Smith had zero desire to wait in a 20 minute line. But I did because I'm stubborn enough, but we both decided that the mall is not somewhere you will ever find us again (until we visit Santa next year). I think we hate people & crowds. As soon as we search for parking we're like what are we doing here!? And yes, Mr Smith, it was my idea. But Lexi needed to meet Santa! First Christmases are a big deal - just not to Mr Smith who said Lexi was going to get sick from sitting on Santa's lap. I thought he was a great Santa.

Skinny Butts & Happy Lists

I'm not even sure how to spell poinsettia, but Alexis ate my Christmas plant today. Well, I found a little leaf in her mouth & it was pushed over onto the floor. Needless to say, they are now moved. I was working really hard messing up her quiet book in the other room for all those who ask "well where were you." I could hear her. I just thought the plastic on the plant sounded a lot like her butterfly toy. And she was playing happily by herself. You do not disturb those moments! Any way, Mr Smith checked and it is not poisonous. Cheers to keeping Alexis alive for another day. I mean really . With regards to the book - I'll have to show you the 2 pages I have not completely finished, but mentally I am done with. I'm not sure why I wanted to start a quiet book. Maybe because I wanted all my hair to fall out. My goal is not to be embarrassed by it, realistic goal? (that's what Mr Smith asked). tbd. I need distractions. We have completed the following project...

What Happens Next Part II

So once upon a time I said "the best is yet to come" and then I made you wait & wait, remember? {recall this post}  I know, it has been so long and you have moved on. But come back, please continue on. Because what do you think happens next? I don't mean after dinner, or your next vacation or after you get married, have children, etc… but once we physically die? disclaimer {I hesitate to even act like this is a full summation. It is not. There is so much more that can be discussed. this is me summing it up the best way I could.} I want to talk just a little more about physical death , where our physical bodies are separated from our spirits. All mankind will be redeemed from physical death.  When our mortal/physical body dies, our spirit continues to live (but they will be reunited again).  The Second Coming has not occurred yet. Some people refer to it as the rapture or "end of the world." Due to the fact that we're still waiting for the Second C...

Celebrate

Well, I'm not even sure how to write a post with a week's worth of updates, oh wait… my life is fairly simple. I can . The best highlight was a finished kitchen table . Man it's so nice to get that checked off. The lesson learned was that enamel paint is oil based & that does not mix well with water based poly, doi! I also found some linen fabric that I made into the table runner. It's good enough… The second best thing was Mr Smith saying (texting) he wanted to surprise me with a Christmas tree, but since I brought it up we went ahead and shopped for one. We originally planned on a real tree so that we didn't have to store one, but $$$ won out & we took home a display tree from Target for $45 so that worked out well. No fluffing! DG only had colored lights left, but since we only had 5 ornaments any way, the colors add some . . . variety. This tree will very well become the kid's tree & I'm sure more "colorful" ornaments will be added...
